A recruitment intervention…

My name is Robert, and I am a recruiter.

It’s been 2 years, 8 months and 14 days since I set up my independent recruitment consultancy and I have a confession to make.

“I can’t stand recruiters”

Okay, not all of them but pretty much most of them.

But, to be fair, it’s not all their fault.

I also blame the clients who’ve let the profession get to this state.

Now listen, I’m not trolling, recruiter bashing and or usually a moaner to this extent, however, I’m fed up with reading and hearing all these horror stories, yet no one actually gives measurable advice on how to change.

Until now.

It’s ever so simple.

Just like Zammo and Tucker in Grange Hill (jezuz I’m old)..

Just say no.

Or to paraphrase Mrs Barbara Bush, “say NO to poor recruitment practices”

That’s it, honestly, it’s that simple.

If a client said, “no”, I won’t accept you firing over a CV after a quick ‘matching’ call and calling that recruitment, then trust me, recruiters would have to pull their finger out and start justifying what added value they bring for their fee.

Try this simple question next time they’re feeding you BS like how they “understand your brand” have “their fingers on the pulse” and how their “different approach sets them apart”

Ask your ‘recruitment partner’ at least 4 questions which they need to answer as to why they’ve specifically submitted a candidate, you’d be surprised how many don’t know the answer beyond, salary, location, experience and availability which should be a given.

Would love to hear the results.
