Is a testimonial worth the screen it’s written on?

You’re great.

I’m great.

We’re all fricking great

Does anyone give a monkeys about referrals or testimonials in a time where the most powerful man in the world has invented the phrase #fakenews & we’re all going along with it.

Call me old fashioned & an optimist but I believe so.

However, it’s like the first few months of a new relationship.

You have to give as well as receive.

We all rush to post comments when things go bad (don’t even get me started on Southern Rail), however when the going is good we tend to forget the how & why & enjoy the now.

This is great, however spare a thought for the person/people who might have given you a leg up or some sage advice that really helped out.

Also, I still take a look at TripAdvisor, Linkedin & ebay comments when I’m about to make a decision in this space, so I’m pretty sure others do.

So why not take 5 minutes from your day today & thank someone who has done you a solid.

Anyone, you know, like say ta to your partner for the brew this morning or a work colleague for not clogging up the toilet, or even god forbid, a recruiter who you think has added value rather than picked your pocket.

Trust me, you’ll feel better for it.

Recruitment predictions for 2026

Predictions are funny things: most of them are either so vague they could apply to almost any year, or so dramatic they start to feel like astrology for agency leaders.   I sit in a slightly unusual position. My work takes me across the whole events sector and...
